The Uptown Nightclub, 1928 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA

First Tuesdays at The Uptown Nightclub (1928 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA), Grab 'Em By The Songs is a FREE monthly songwriter series featuring Bay Area songwriters performing songs in the round. November lineup:

Emily Zisman is a folk-Americana singer-songwriter born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area. As a writer, she takes her cues from artists like Dar Williams, Joni Mitchell, and Ani DiFranco. She sings of our vulnerabilities and fears, love and fight, crafting her lyrics into song with her soulfully-folk voice evocative of Emmylou Harris.

Willa Mamet hails from Vermont and lives with her piano in Oakland. She likes all the words and long walks on the beach. Oh, and music.

Born and raised in Corrales, New Mexico, Eileen Torrez has made the Bay Area her home and the artist-activist community her family since 2013. Her music blends folk, pop, R&B and jazz into unique melodies layered over the sweetness of her nylon-stringed guitar. She released her debut album, Honey, and Zest, in 2016. As an organizer and social worker, Eileen weaves themes of resilience, community, anti-capitalism and women's empowerment into her songwriting. She is a poet mentor with Youth Speaks and is passionate about building strength and community through art. You can learn more about Eileen on her website, www.eileentorrez.com, or follow her @eileentorrezmusic.

Little Spiral @, a.k.a. Suzanne Yada, is a piano-pop singer-songwriter who writes at the intersection of technology and heart. She mixes her indie pop, classical, blues and electronic influences with her background in poetry, media, and the internet to create clever little piano pop songs for the digital age. Fans of Tori Amos, Amanda Palmer, Mary Lambert, Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor will feel right at home in the @ Little Spiral @ galaxy.
